Book to Action
Book to Action 2021 initiatives tackle important issues in the community and encourage reading, community discussion, and action. During the months of March and April, Anaheim Public Library will host a community reading of "How To Be An Antiracist" by Ibram X. Kendi.
Residents can participate in a series of engaging virtual events, including book discussions and an author visit with Ibram X. Kendi on Wed, April 21 at 5:30 p.m.
Join the discussion by attending the virtual programs or picking up a copy of the book at your neighborhood Anaheim Library.

Rise: Narratives of Hope & Change
Tuesday, April 13 at 5:30 p.m.
Join us for powerful and inspiring stories of transformation with Mr. James Cavitt from Project Rebound. Project Rebound is a program that supports the higher education and successful reintegration of formerly incarcerated individuals wishing to enroll and succeed at the California State University. Their impactful narratives are lessons that will change your heart and challenge your thinking regarding incarcerated individuals.

In collaboration with CSU Chico’s Book in Common program, OC Public Libraries, and additional community partners focused on reading and discussing, "How to Be An Antiracist," a virtual conversation is scheduled
with National Book Award winning author Ibram X. Kendi. Participating libraries and community members will be invited to join others across
the state for this special event.

Challenged to be the Opposite of Racist:
A Community Conversation

In the midst of today’s current social climate, many of us are feeling hopeless and disillusioned. However,
Dr. King’s vision of a “beloved community” is more than a dream. It can be our reality. Facilitated by diversity, equity and inclusion consultant, Dr. Francine L. Oputa, this event will provide a “brave space” for us to explore the concepts of racism and social justice with openness and compassion. We will also explore,
“what it means to be an ally." Participants will leave
will tools practical tools to support them as they play their part in creating the beloved community.
